English for IT is a selected response English-language exam that tests a candidate’s ability to communicate in English at the upper-intermediate level (CEFR B2, GSE 59-75). It specifically tests a candidate’s knowledge of the structure of the language (i.e. grammar, syntax, and semantics) and a candidate’s ability to read and listen in English.
The English for IT exam is suitable for a wide range of test candidates, not just those with an interest in the fields of information technology. In fact, any person who needs to work with IT, either with IT specialists such as programmers or network administrators, needs to be able to communicate effectively with those people. Even a person who simply uses a computer in their work will benefit from an increased knowledge of IT terminology in the English language.

The ideal English for IT candidate has already been learning English for at least one year, and has already passed an English exam at the CEFR B1 / GSE 43-58 level.

The three sections always appear in the same order. Use of English deals with grammar, syntax, and semantics. The Listening section tests the candidate’s ability to follow spoken English, while the Reading section measures the candidate’s reading skills.
